Michael Blouin will read his award-winning poem, “Bistro,” which was chosen over 100 other entries. His work has appeared in Descant, Queen’s Quarterly, and Grain, and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award. He is currently completing a novel, “Lucky Dog.”
Natalie King will read “Breakfast at the World Café”, which was selected as Honourable Mention. She lives and works in Ottawa. She likes to eat breakfast and discuss social issues.
Named in honour of the late Ottawa poet Diana Brebner, who provided teaching, mentorship and friendship to many local poets, the Diana Brebner Prize is awarded annually for a poem written by an emerging poet who lives in the National Capital Region, and who has yet to publish in book form. This year’s prize was judged by local poet Marianne Bluger, whose most recent book, Early Evening Pieces, was published this year by BuschekBooks.
Work from Brebner’s acclaimed books of poetry will also be read at the event. Copies of Arc 51, featuring the prize-winning poems will be on sale.
