The poems contending for the Readers’ Choice Award are among the 50 shortlisted poems from the Poem of the Year Contest.

Diana Brebner Prize

Entry deadline: March 1, 2010 (note the change of date in 2010 )

Open to emerging Ottawa poets who have not yet published their poetry in book form.




Lampman-Scott Award for Poetry

Entry deadline: March 31 each year for books published between January and December of the previous year by a recognized publisher.

The Lampman-Scott Award for Poetry recognizes an outstanding book of English-language poetry by an author living in the National Capital Region.

The $1500 Lampman-Scott Award for Poetry is jointly awarded by Arc Poetry Magazine and the Duncan Campbell Scott Foundation, in memory of the Confederation poets Archibald Lampman and Duncan Campbell Scott.



Confederation Poets’ Prize

The Confederation Poets’ Prize includes a cash award of $250 given for the best poem published in Arc in the previous calendar year. The editors invite a distinguished poet to select the poem he or she considers to be the most noteworthy among the many fine poems Arc has collected in its two annual issues.



Critc’s Desk Award

Inaugurated in Arc’s 25th-anniversary year, the Critic’s Desk Award honours excellence in book reviewing, marking the importance that thoughful treatment of poetry holds in the evolution and wider appreciation of the genre. The award, which includes cash prizes of $250 and $100, is given annually to a feature review and to a brief review that have been published in Arc in the previous calendar year. The winner in each category is chosen by a distinguished critic known for his or her contribution as a reviewer of poetry.
